Pencegahan Malnutrisi dan Underweight Melalui Edukasi Gizi di UPT Puskesmas Watampone

Malnutrition is an abnormal physiological condition caused by a deficiency, imbalance between energy, protein, and other nutrients. Malnutrition and underweight is a nutritional problems can have an impact on children’s development and growth. The prevalence of malnutrition and underweight in Bone Regency reached respectively 9,9% ad 19,8% of cases. This counseling activity aimed to improve public understanding of malnutrition and underweight, which are significant nutritional issues in Bone Regency, particularly in the working area of UPT Puskesmas Watampone. The counseling was conducted through a one-way approach by public health nutrition internship students from Universitas Sipatokkong Mambo. The materials included definitions, impacts, strategies for addressing malnutrition, and the prevalence of malnutrition and underweight cases based on e-PPGBM data. This activity involved 35 participants and resulted in increased knowledge about preventing malnutrition and underweight cases, such as nutritional status monitoring, supplementary feeding, nutrition education, and immunization. Despite technical challenges, the activity's success was evident in participants' enhanced knowledge, potentially leading to positive impacts on parenting patterns and children's nutritional status.
