Abstract

Menstruation is periodic bleeding as an integral part of a woman's biological function throughout her life cycle. According to WHO data, 75% of women experience menstrual disorders, approximately 60-70% of women with underweight and overweight can show symptoms of menstrual cycle disorders. The aim of this research was to determine the relationship between BMI and the menstrual cycle in adolescent girls. The type of research used in this research is a quantitative survey method with a cross sectional approach using the Slovin formula for 45 respondents. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. The test used was Fisher's Exact Test with a significance level of α= <0.05. The majority of respondents had a normal body mass index (86.7%). Most respondents had normal menstrual cycles (53.3%). The research results obtained a value of p=0.007 < α=0.05, thus this shows that there is a relationship between body mass index and the menstrual cycle.
